Vintage Bell Atlantic Playing Cards - Unusual Face Cards & Joker -Unusual Story?
I’m not sure what the story is behind this custom deck of Bell Atlantic playing cards, but I’m sure it’s a good one.
First take a look at the backs of the cards. There’s a picture of a man in a prison jumpsuit making a phone call. At the bottom is the Bell Atlantic logo, at the top, the words “In For Life.'
The face cards  appear to be caricatures of…. who?  Bell Atlantic executives? The aces are “The Inmate”, who’s shown behind bars with a halo?  The Warden, The Judge and the Deputy complete the court.  The jester is a harried looking young Lawyer.
I have no idea what’s going on here, but I know it’s an unusual set of cards. If you’re a card-swapper this is a good set to use for that purpose.
