    Description

VINTAGE 1961 TO 1963 "U.S. ANTARCTIC RESEARCH PROGRAM SCIENTIST PARKA COAT MADE BY DAVID T. ABERCROMBIE CAMP TRADE MARK".  UP FOR AUCTION IS AN EXTREMELY RARE AND AUTHENTIC ONE OF THE FIRST MADE ANTARCTIC PARKA COATS COMMISSIONED BY THE HISTORIC "
    U.S ANTACTIC RESEARCH PROGRAM"
THROUGH THE  "DAVID T. ABERCROMBIE & FITCH CLOTHING COMPANY BETWEEN 1961 AND 1963.  COLLAGE STUDENT SCIENTIST "DAVID T. MASON" AND TWO OTHERS WERE FINANCED BY THE U.S.A.R.P. TO STUDY THE MICRO LIFE IN THE SMALL LAKES NEAR THE McMURDO STATION HEADQUARTERS FOR THE U.S.A.R.P. IN 1961 LASTING THREE SUMMERS TO 1963. THIS "PARKA COAT" WAS PURCHASED IN 1961 BY THE SCIENTIST THROUGH U.S.A.R.P.'S CLOTHING PROGRAM AND USED THROUGHOUT EACH SUMMER TELL 1963. SINCE THE "U.S.A.R.P." WAS FIRST FORMED IN 1959 ITS LIKELY THIS PARKA COAT IS ONE OF THE VERY FIRST COATS USED IN THE PROGRAM!  THIS AUCTION IS FOR THE "U.S.A.R.P." SCIENTISTS "PARKA COAT" ONLY BUT WILL BE PUTTING UP VERY SOON HIS PERSONAL "ANTARCTIC BUNNY BOOTS" ALSO COMMISSIONED BY THE "U.S.A.R.P." AND MADE BY "ABERCROMBIE & FITCH"  HAVING STAMPED ON THEM BOTH MAKER MARKINGS AND THE "U.S.A.R.P." ENDORSEMENT DATING 1960. TRULY THE FIRST "U.S.A.R.P." ENDORSED / COMMISSIONED "ARCTIC BUNNY BOOTS"! BOTH ARE TRULY HISTORIC FINDS AND HAVE NOT FOUND ANY OF BOTH THE PARKA OR THE BOOTS ANYWHERE ON THE INTERNET OR IN MUSEUMS OR EVEN AT THE "U.S.ANTARCTIC PROGRAM" INSTITUTE, (THAT IS ITS NAME TODAY).  I HAVE ALL THE SCIENTIST DAVID T. MASON'S PAPERWORK AND BOOKS ON HIS "U.S.A.R.P." ARCTIC LAKE STUDY WHICH I CAN MAIL FOR FREE IF INTERESTED.  THE COAT FITS ME KIND OF TIGHT SO I WOULD DEFINITELY SAY IT IS A LARGE SIZE (NO SIZE LABELS).  ITS LENGTH IS 34 INCHES AND ARM LENGHT IS 24 INCHES.  I HOPE THESE HISTORIC AND EXTREMELY RARE ANTACTIC HISTORY ITEMS GO TO A GOOD MUSEUM OR COLLECTION THAT WILL DISPLAY THEM!
