    Description

You are bidding on a huge original antique print from an 1880s illustrated journal.
It depicts a dramatic scene. Alaskan Malamute Sled Dogs confont a herd of powerful muskox. The musk oxen have circled themselves for protection. The hunters prepare a shot. Nice historical piece that shows the malamute in all its glory.
It is very large (double elephant folio size), measuring approximately 22 x 16 inches (56 x 40.5 cm). The picture fills most of the page, with a caption below.
The back of the print is blank. This means it was likely a “special supplement” to the journal, making it especially rare.
The print has one vertical fold line, where it was folded into the magazine long ago.
Note that the fold line is clean and undamaged, because it was "tipped" into the binding. This was a luxury binding technique of that era, because the double page prints were free of binding holes down the center. See scans.
This is GENUINE antique/vintage item. It is not a modern reproduction.
