  • Condition: This pistol was made between 1951 and 1954 making it between 68 and 71 years old. The pistol remains in good condition despite having an adventurous history of recreational use over the past seven decades. As you would expect on a preowned vintage air pistol like this, the black painted finish has acquired scattered areas of surface rust, minor surface scratches, dings and paint loss. This model requires CO2 charging via an external 10.0 ounce “CO2 REFILL CYLINDER”. Unfortunately I don't have that in my possession so I cannot test the functionality of the pistol due to a lack of a CO2 charge. That said, the pistol in being offered in “AS IS” condition with the explicit understanding that, due to its age, the internal seals will most likely need replacing and a replacement external “CO2 refill cylinder” will need to be acquired prior to charging the pistol with CO2 gas. This is a nice example of an early Crosman pellet pistol. Refer to the photos to confirm the condition of the pistol.

    This model pistol was
made in the U.S.A. by Crosman Arms Co., Inc.
    , in
    ROCHESTER, N. Y., between the years 1951 and 1954
    .
I located and printed a copy of the original Crosman factory (4) four page directions manual that I will include in the shipment of the pistol
    .
This pistol was given to me by my uncle many years ago when I was a young boy.
I recently came across this pistol, and many other vintage “BB” and “pellet” air guns while going through my attic.
I fully anticipate listing all of them as well since I am now too old to fully enjoy them as much as I once did.
To that end, it is time to pass these classics on to the next generation for them to treasure and enjoy as much as I did back in the day.
Please note, this pistol was made prior to Crosman’s introduction of the then revolutionary design that accepted/used the standard 12 gram size CO2 cartridge.
This model requires CO2 charging via an external 10.0 ounce “CO2 REFILL CYLINDER” that I unfortunately no longer have in my possession.
Since I no longer have means to charge the pistol, I cannot test the functionality of the pistol due to a lack of a CO2 charge.
To that end, I am offering the pistol in “
    AS IS
” condition with the explicit understanding that, due to its age, the internal seals will most likely need replacing and a replacement external “CO2 refill cylinder” will need to be acquired prior to charging the pistol with CO2 gas.
The pistol has an approximate 6.0” long rifled barrel and is made out of black painted brass (non-magnetic) and black crinkled painted alloy grip frame with contoured two-piece wrap around white plastic target grips.
It weighs approximately 1.0 pounds 11.0 ounces and measures approximately 9.75” long and 5.50” tall as measures from the bottom of the grip to the top of the rear sight.
Please refer to description photos # 11 and # 12 to confirm the size dimensions and for more details about what I have described.
    The
    RIGHT
side of the pistol’s receiver (located below the rear sight) is clearly stamped with the following (2) two lines that read as follows.
Refer to description photo # 2 and # 4 for more details about what I have described.
    “CROSMAN ARMS CO., INC.”
    “ROCHESTER, N. Y., U.S.A.”
    The
    LEFT
side of the pistol’s receiver (located below the rear sight) is clearly stamped with the following (1) single line that read as follows.
Refer to description photo # 1 and # 3 for more details about what I have described.
    “CROSMAN “115” ”
Immediately below the aforementioned Crosman brand name and caliber designation is another single line of embossed information embossed into the side of the pistol’s gas tube.
I believe this to be the pistol’s serial number with the two middle numbers “
    0
    ” zero (
    320022
    ) being partially obscured.
If not the serial number I am unclear as to what exactly the “
    32 (
    ) 22
    ” stamp may represent.
This information appears and reads as follows.
Refer to description photo # 2, # 4 and # 9 for more details about what I have described.
    “MOD.115”
    and
    “32 (
    ) 22”
At the rear of the pistol, located immediately below the bolt pull knob, is the “Power Adjustment” screw knob.
The head of this reeded-edge knob is stamped with the following words followed by a directional arrow pointing to the right (clockwise).
    “POWER INCREASE”
This is the knob the shooter would turn in order to “increase” the amount power and CO2 discharge into the chamber when shooting a pellet.
The pistol remains in good condition for being between 68 and 71 years old and having an active adventurous history of recreational use over the past seven decades.
As you would expect to find on a preowned and used vintage air pistol like this, the black painted finish has spots of surface rust, scattered minor scratches, dings and paint loss.
The white grip panels remain in very good condition as they are securely attached to the frame and have no signs of damage.
Please refer to the close-up description photos to confirm the condition of the pistol’s grips and metal finish and for more details about what I have described.
I found the following specifications about the Crosman 115 pistol on the internet interesting and informative so I decided to include it below for your further review and consideration.
The Crosman 115 and 116 models are very similar they each have 6-inch barrels but the 115 shoots .177 caliber pellets and the 116 shoots .22 caliber pellets. These pistols were introduced in 1951 and remained in production until 1954, but many believe production numbers were dramatically reduced after the first Crosman model’s 150 and 157 were introduced to the market. These new pistols were the first guns Crosman made that used the standard 12-gram CO2 size cartridge that is still being used today.
The gas reservoirs on the 115 are brass tubes under the barrel.
It is reported that the model 115 can get as many as 50 powerful shots on a single fill but most believe 30 shots is a more realistic number. The model 115 has an adjustable power screw knob at the rear of the receiver that the shooter can turn to put more tension on the striker subsequently creating a longer valve “open” time which in turn provided more power when shooting the pellet. The sights on the 115 are adjustable. The rear sight is a simple notch and the front sight is a tall squared-off post. The rear sight leaf slides from side to side in an oval slot with a lock screw holding it position. A second smaller headless screw provides a range of elevation.
The grips come in 2 pieces that wrap around the grip frame and are made out of plastic.
The model 115 was originally sold with whitish grips that sometimes have thin lines of other colors running through them. Of course, you can find any color grips on a gun today because the grip frames are all identical and a lot of swapping has been done in the past 60 years. The grips are ambidextrous and only the cross-bolt safety keeps the entire gun from being completely friendly to people favoring either hand.
The barrel and tube are brass (non-magnetic) painted with a glossy black paint and the grip frame is an alloy painted with a black crackled finish. This makes restoration of these old pistols is relatively simple. The barreled action is made mostly of brass tubing and parts, and the grip frame is made of pot metal. Small parts such as the trigger, sights, screws and power adjustment knobs are steel.
The pistol has a conventional turn-bolt that both cocks the striker and opens the breech to load a pellet.
There’s no bolt handle, instead, you turn a knurled knob counterclockwise; and when it unlocks, pull it straight back until the sear catches the striker. Then, the pellet trough is open to load one pellet. Pushing the bolt back home and twisting it clockwise seats the pellet into the rifling and also aligns the gas transfer port with a hole in the bottom of the hollow bolt.
Overall, this pistol is a genuine survivor from a long-time past.
It is a very nice and shall I dare say scarce example of an early Crosman CO2 pellet pistol.
I am confident that with very little effort and attention this pistol can easily return to full function and will be certain to provide its new owner with many more years of shooting pleasure, outdoor adventures and lasting memories.
