Campaign Governor Paperweight Bull Connor Alabama 1938 Segregation Civil Rights. Condition is used.Cast metal, shaped like a bull, measures approximately 2” x 2.5” x 5/8”. Reads “Connor” on one side and “For Governor “ on the other.
Has some oxidation.
Theophilus Eugene “Bull” Connor was over the Alabama Commission of Public Safety and the Birmingham Public Safety Commission during much of the civil rights fight. He strongly opposed desegregation and contributed to racial violence. He unsuccessfully ran for governor of Alabama in 1938 and again in 1954.
